Night Terrors

Night Terrors

A Poem by Ghost

Night Terrors

Somewhere in the distance a lonely bell tolls,

A dog barks deep into the night,

Sad, empty is the train whistle,

Outside my window the darkness stretches.

Like the infinity of the lights, in the skyline,

So is the aching of my soul,

Pointlessly lost in the depth of your eyes,

That is masked behind the cloud of tears.

Pain has a way of drawing us deep into the void,

To feed off of our time in need,

Giving sorrow in this illuminated world,

That is barren of a friendly face.

Desolate thoughts emerge from the shadows,

Imagination preys on the helpless and the weak,

Lingering like a thief, to bring us to the end,

Leading us down the boulevard of night terrors….
