Forgotten heroes

Forgotten heroes

A Poem by Ghiasquared

Vision dulled by government gray
The smell of the forgotten in stagnant wait
Wheeled chariots of fallen warriors pass
through hallways that have no life

Room after room with a thousand stories
silenced by the hum of mechanical care
Echoes of blood long ago bleed
The wounds still seeping in grief

Sitting to watch the electric window
surrounded by broken heroes
Shuffled cards drown out the drone
of the passing of time here

Empty stares searching for a caring word
Met with the squawk of speaker overhead
Announcing another brother in peril
The fear of reaper passes on faces

Standing with back to this broken land
Looking upon the bright world outside
A chariot pulls up beside to join
As we watch the saved driving by.
