Battlefield

A Poem by Ghiasquared

Rain sprinkles the battle field
Squires prepare the armored fighters
Generals plan the glory
Warriors look upon foe
The mediator signals the start
Lightening streaks across the sky
Thunder rolls from afar
The warring factions head for battle
Body upon body pain will not slow
Blood and sweat abounds
The onlookers grimace from the sight they see
Cheering when their side is forward moving
Silent when attack is overcoming
Two sides locked in throes of war
Only one will survive tonight
The winds talk with wicked torment
Look there
A warrior steps back
He launches an assault like none other
Passing off the leather-bound air
His brother finds the other side
Pursuit just behind him
On wind he races
To glory he reaches
The mediator stretches hands above
The crowd screams with ecstasy
Touchdown!
Celebration ensues
