Mind Games

Mind Games

A Poem by Glo
"

How we play games with people and ourselves

"

Mind Games (how we deceive each other and ourselves)

I see you but you don’t see
What is real
What I feel
When you look at me
I let you see,
What you want to see
When you look at me
What you wish I could be
o
You’re looking right through me
Thinking that you know me
Feeding me your lies,
Afraid to show me
That I have no place,
Occupy no space
And I leave no trace
In your empty heart
o
So I look at you,
I see right through
The layers of lies
Built behind your eyes
I look through me
Behind my disguise
Through the eyes of a stranger
I believe my own lies
o
You’re thinking that you do
But you don’t feel my heart
You don’t dream my dreams
You don’t play my part
You don’t know my mind
You don’t feel my pain
But I know your kind
And I know your game
o
So I look at you,
And I see it’s true
What I thought I felt
It was never for you
I let myself see
What I wanted to see
What I needed from you
What I needed for me
o
Now the clock keeps ticking
And the days go by
I’m still here with you
And I don’t know why

This piece is best read aloud to a quick beat, like a Rap. That's how I heard it in my head when I wrote it. Fast and furious.

I liked this poem a lot it was very pretty and I felt a connection to it. I think that many people would be able to relate to this because it's so real.
