I Am BlindA Poem by ggravendustI'm legally blind, but it's not much of a problem.
I am blind,
but I can see. without my lenses, I see more than you do. I feel freer than you do. because the blurs mean I'm human. I am blind, but I can see. Fourth of July, in a pool, I watched with wide, bare eyes as fireworks seemed to divide, into circles. I am blind, but I can see. Because my blindness is not a disability. It's a trait of my character, as if I was in a story and they had to give me at least one flaw. I am blind, but I can see. I don't want to drive anyway, and now I don't have to. That's less weight on my heavy shoulders, I suppose. I am blind, but I can see. Because my hearing is off the charts. Every sound is processed quicker when it's your only way of sight. I am blind, but I can see. Because my crush will steal my glasses and wear them for a while, and I can't really complain about that. I am blind, but I can see Because when I take my glasses off and rub my eyes, friends know that I need a break, and they respect that. I am blind, but I can see. Because I have experienced things, you sighted people never will. Seen things you can't imagine, because you see in HD. I am blind, but I can see. Because this is not a disability. © 2013 ggravendustAuthor's Note
