Discard The DebtA Chapter by Akujuobi GodsgrantA passionate appeal
Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
(Romans 13:8, NET) As humans we may run into debts or at least someone else could get indebted to us. But, we aren't concerned currently with monetary debts and so on. Have you ever taken out time to think of how much of your sins (debts) Christ Jesus cancelled and discarded? The gospel truth is that Jesus' death on the cross was real love proven. How have you treated those who were indebted to you? Maybe they weren't fair enough to reciprocate your kind gestures when they should. It's believed that one good turn deserves another. But, what if it didn't just work out that way? And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. (Matthew 6:12, KJV) So, what will you do with that fellow your heart already calls ingrate? If you are a Christian God's standard is that those debts are to be discarded. It may not be easy. Forgive them the same way Christ forgave you and I. Is that too big to be demanded for by your Maker and Lord? It's obviously not. The beautiful thing is that God will reward your labour of love. Just allow the garbage man dispose them when next he comes around. You'll be in for a resounding well done from God, our father, if you discard those debts.
