This poem is just about folks who for no good reasons found themselves poor.

Suffering and Smiling

To certain folks, growing up was fun

Yet to many others, it was a bitter experience

Some had their fill of love and knew its real definition

While so many others never enjoyed the warmth of a lovely family

I see many with no hope of a two-square meal

And yet a different class in surplus, with overflowing balanced diets

Imagine a few owning a myriad of mansions and citadels

While, at the next street exists households in slums

Living in penury could be excruciating

Having to battle with thoughts of life being unfair

Life, but why?

And they call it survival of the fittest

But, why me?

Suffering and smiling, just to cover up

While many who pledged to serve us, enrich their families via looting

Does a poor person enjoy peace more than some affluent homes?

But the heartaches caused by the dearth of resources linger

Let our leaders hate injustice and inequity

Let’s end this suffering and smiling

It’s just a passionate appeal for a positive change.

your works are rich in moral lessons. This is a typical example. It mirrors the present social classification in Nigeria. the rich getting richer, and the poor getting poorer. Great work bard.
