Dark Clouds Of Greed

Dark Clouds Of Greed

A Poem by Healing Star
"

I could only cry and nearly broke down, looking at images of what is happening in Standing Rock - it is Wounded Knee III - it is complete Insanity, injustice, immoral blindness. I am Appalled.

"
In the Face of this Darkness
A cloud created by this Greed
From this terrible Blindness
Will the Hearts ever be Freed

My Country has been Poisoned
By the Designs of so Few
Is there still a Horizon
Where we'll find the guidance of the True

In the Face of this Darkness
A cloud created by this Greed
From this terrible Blindness
Will the Hearts ever be Freed

On the Plains near the Waters
They come to tear our Hearts Out
Oh witness my Sons and my Daughters
What these dark signs are all About

In the Face of this Darkness
A cloud created by this Greed
From this terrible Blindness
Will the Hearts ever be Freed

They came to share their Hearts Open
Now crushed by Steal, Tasered, Shot and Sprayed
That this will bring Unity is what I'm Hopin'
But Hearts could be crushed if it's Delayed

In the Face of this Darkness
A cloud created by this Greed
From this terrible Blindness
Will the Hearts ever be Freed

As I look upon this Evil
My Heart is weary Already
With Coldness these wild beings Kill
Something inside me say Steady, Steady

In the Face of this Darkness
A cloud created by this Greed
From this terrible Blindness
Will the Hearts ever be Freed

The Media will never bring the Story
That show so plainly what is Real
The Oil man is puffed up in all his Glory
Peoples Hearts grown cold and don't Feel

In the Face of this Darkness
A cloud created by this Greed
From this terrible Blindness
Will the Hearts ever be Freed

For one night I looked upon the Images
My Heart and Mind instantly Appalled
But for 500 years, through the Ages
Their people have been Walled

In the Face of this Darkness
My True Heart I must sill Heed
Still, within me and can find Kindness
And in this Soil I plant my Seed

From all this wrenching, from all this Toil
From all this emotion, disdain and Abuse
There is a Snake that begins to Uncoil
If we turn NOT now, there is no Excuse

Though it would be easy to Turn
And to state that I am Broken
My True Self I turn to, to Discern
If I do, my life is an Empty Token

War is raging on the Dakota Plain
Most go on without being Aware
It is a battle of Peace and Criminal Insane
And most look and turn without a Care

The Corporations rule our entire Planet
So many sell their power, for a few Crumbs
And try to be happy with the little they Get
While the rulers from towers create the Slums

This will affect the next seven Generations
And what will you say when asked what You Did
It will be forgotten by empty Explanations
Will it be you found another distraction you went and Hid

In the Face of this Darkness
A cloud created by this Greed
From this terrible Blindness
Will the Hearts ever be Freed

The title of this poem really caught my eye. It is really disheartening that some of the most serious stories of poverty, governmental abuse of power, etc. are never covered by the media, which is supposed to be the very medium in which the voices, stories, and complaints of the people are heard.

I really loved the repeated stanza as it emphasized the message throughout the poem and really expressed how greed does not only ruin the greedy individual but also other people...
