Bud Spared By MinutesA Poem by Healing StarMy Dad in WWII in France and his Tank was hit by an armor piercing rocket, and only 5 minutes before he had been the gunner up top. When it blew the young man replacing him was blown out into tracksHe gave his Life for Me He gave it all that I might be Freed He gave his Life for Me Before I was ever even a Dream Years before I would ever See He gave his Life that he might Live He did not know it as he Moved Did not know he was positioning to Give As he climbed up through that little Hole Well you see that is where it touches my Soul My Daddy told me when I was a Boy That he had rolled in a great big Tank Across green fields over grapes and Grain And that it was only Love that kept him Sain Over the hills and Vales of France He gave his Life for Me He gave it all that I might be Freed He gave his Life for Me Before I was ever even a Dream Years before I would ever See You see they turned to fire on a Destroyer And they didn't see the one in the Trees He took his aim and his rocket burned on Through And it was from there that it all got Fuzzy But they told him the man that had crawled up to relieve Him He was thrown out and caught in the Treads I felt him near me just Today As this story came back to Me I could almost see him crawling up behind the Gun I could almost feel him as he braste after the Boom I can almost see his Eyes, clear and Strong I could almost hear him, I'm glad young One I could almost feel his Heart as it Beat I could almost touch the ripple in his Collar I could almost see him as he turned to go On I could almost, I could almost He gave his Life for Me He gave it all that I might be Freed He gave his Life for Me Before I was ever even a Dream Years before I would ever See © 2015 Healing Star |
