May I patch that Heart of Gold

Before I step Out

Into the Night of Cold

 

Before I see You

Can I find something not so Strange

Before I hear You

Can I listen for winds of Change

 

Before the sky comes Falling

Can I take refuge from the Pain

Before the day is Breaking

Can I take shelter from the Rain

 

For I see the mists are Forming

Out at sea trouble is Storming

Soon the Gail will be at my Shore

And I must be ready to bolt the Door

 

Or should I just let it Be

Allow the night rains to come pouring In

For it is a lonely Heart that Sees

On the Horizon a War that no one Wins

 

Before I leave You

Can I take one last dip into that Stream

Before I make a Move

And rip it all apart at the Seam

 

Before I see You

Can I turn and forget what is Dying

Before I hear You

Can I cover all the darkness Lying

 

Before the seas of change wash In

Can I find an open Door

For my very soul is Shaken

And I must strive for love once More

 

For I see a lifting of Fog by Sun

And there is a calming that has Begun

Perhaps the Gail will be replaced with Breezes

And we will sail South before it Freezes

 

Before I Return

Can I spare a moment Alone

Before I follow Back

Can I repair this bruised Heart Moan

 

Before I see You

Can I reflect on what has gone Wrong

Before I hear You

Can I listen to my own Heart beating Strong

 

To often we rush when near the Edge

For we fear to falter and not to Return

Putting even more between us like a Wedge

So quickly we want to fulfill our Yearn

 

Perhaps we should slowly find a way Back

Taking time to repair the wounds of Blindness

Slowing the moving of our rebound Attract

And be careful to show ourselves True Kindness
