Almond Candy

I received a gift of candy covered almonds. As I tasted one I thought of my Mom this was her favorite and she loved Christmas.

Just had a candy almond, must be Christmas time

I know you're there with daddy, because its Christmas time

Say hello to daddy, I love him dearly too.

But it was you with the almond candy, I saw you there, as I tasted just now.

Yes it was you for a moment, when almond candy was the taste.

 

Can you be my candy almond, a wish I have to say

You always loved that candy when Christmas came around

There was always something cooking, a heart could not go hungry

Where 'ere you were on Christmas, there was the love felt

Where 'ere you were on Christmas, the sounds were always joyous

 

You always made sure Christmas, was always special felt

There was always love on Christmas, from church to the tree

Eyes lit up at Christmas, just like the Christmas tree

You saw eyes light up at Christmas, lit by your love for them

You were not happy unless, your babies filled with glee

 

Give me some almond candy, that sweet candy coated nut

It helps me find my mama, helps me know she is alright

I saw her there, for a moment as I tasted it

Can that candy almond bring her back to me

No she is there with my daddy, just waiting patiently

 

I will see you mama and daddy, hope you're proud of me

You are both the best, you made so much special for me

Nobody had any way better, than the way you made it go

I trust you will find it in you, to help me now and then

It is comforting to know, I can always go back to then

 

The memories are golden, they live on and on and on

Your hearts are my lights now, keep them burning for me

I find all that is, through the example you set for me

No one ever goes hungry, when they know they are loved

It is the only kind of hungry, that really can destroy you

 

Beauty is something, that can never be taken from you

It is the beauty within, that grew from inner love

You were always there, for the ones that are yours

Especially at Christmas, you were felt by those around you

I'll never forget the Christmas, that you put in my heart

 

At night in that little church, as you were singing in the choir

I always knew it was Christmas, by the warmth your voices carried

There was beauty in those carols, it filled me with your love

With each day as Christmas coming, would create an excitement inside me

Knowing from past times, the joys the day would bring

 

Now I have my young ones, angels every one

I want for them what I had, I want for them the joy

I trust they know I love them, trust they know we care

I pray theirs is what mine is, the memories go on and on and on
