Proximity

Proximity

A Poem by Gee Bee

For months I struggled
Day and night
you park your car
and creep into my thoughts
Your rabbit smiles
your green shirt
and it fills me up
Until I have to tie my shoes
and run to you
But here's the thing
about us
or what could have been us:
We are parallel lines
You stand in one side
and I, on the other

because the proximity between us,
while only points away on a graph
will never quite intersect
we will never be
In the end
The proximity just goes and goes away
until we get to the point
where our lines
will never, ever meet
it's just the proximity, they say
and I guess they're right
