Bright lights

Bright lights

A Poem by Gee Bee
"

The stars in the rural province shine brighter than in the city.

"
When I was 13
I wanted to be so many things
Chef
Diplomat
Journalist
Director
I felt like I could be
whatever I wanted to be

At night
I'd look up the inky black sky
Stars sparkling brightly
Praying to the gods
praying to the planets
praying to whoever might listen
to grant my dreams

And let me get away

When I turned 21
Those stars
shined right in front of me
So close to the touch
I can feel its heat
So near, I can almost taste it

But the car rides at night
With the inky black sky
tinged with gray and sparks
Push me back to reality
And then I may be
staring at dead stars
All this time

Kabayan this is very nice, I could relate to it, or I do think everyone who reads this can be able to relate. Maybe because every child has too many dreams. Then as we grow up, that dreams changes course depending on the situations and challenges we face in life. Now I thought that I did never achieved what I used to dream, I always wanted to be a doctor, but due to financial status and other reasons, I never did become that. The lesson I learned is that it is always a surprise when your dream turned out to be different than what you expected. Yet again, the list of our dreams are still very long, and we do have all the time in our life-time to do what our heart desires.

Very relate-able piece kabayan, keep it up and keep on writing...

I still do.... thank you, and you are most welcome... good to have you back... :)
Reality is a whole different realm than that of dreams where everything is in our favor and perfect.

It certainly is. Growing up be quite a pain, but it's a good wake up call.
