WarmthA Poem by Gee BeeI wrote this when I was in first year college, while we were waiting for our teacher. It was an impossibly cold day, but my seatmate's presence didn't make me feel so cold.We humans will always look for some form of
warmth from another human. Some
find it in the company of friends Some
in their families Some
in the warmth of man or woman’s skin Some
under the bright lights in front of a sea of faces Just
sitting alone In
a room of pretense and blank smiles The
warmth you get Comes
from solitude Who
wants to be alone No
one, of course But on the ever tense seats Your silence Besides my own It soothes me In your eyes It soothes me Two people With one thing common Still waters Quiet winds blowing You watching My every move A shadow of a smile Playing on your lips Me seeing Through hidden eyes The world you live in Grateful For you For your eyes For your warmth
