New Found Light

This poem is about pursuing a relationship after being a destructive relationship.

Eyes full of wonder
Heart full of hope
Fear creeps through her veins
The high of being around him
The pain of being away
The highs
The lows
The feeling of infatuation
The feeling of a new spark
"What ifs" rack her brain
Butterflies fill her stomach
It feels as if she is in middle school again
A chill of being vulnerable caresses her skin
She wonders if she should warm her skin with the blanket of retreat
The thought of running away ponders in her brain
She chooses to embrace this unfamiliar chill of vulnerability
She lets the chill consume her
As her skin reacts with goosebumps of thrill
Her soul smiles
A new light to help brighten the dark.
