False Promises

False Promises

A Poem by Gerry Legister
"

False promise are sometimes disguise with smooth words

"

The smile you wore made me glad,
And promise half the world under oath,
You would give to me if riches you had,
What we could own in life or death.

Dreams climb without a pause in space,
To quicken mind and longing breathe,
Entwined around the nectar of taste,
Over soul comes power of life and death.

Those lineaments of blissful sounds,
Hidden in the whole realm of mystery,
Are they devices robed in trailing crowns?
The secrets of mind are your own fantasy.

False promise laden upon brave lips without fear,
From higher sphere the words are bless,
I hope to see some dreams floating in the air,
But the contents are empty false promises.

You tell me Dear; the things I want to hear,
But most of them belong to another eternity,
Pretty feathers go and come in flight of the air,
But the clouds remain darker than yesterday.

In the gloom, I see the bloom of things we hate,
But truth reveals promises have no lasting value,
only distant voices calling out the acclaimed estate,
And the waste of opportunities are hard to renew.
