In the beginningA Poem by Gerry LegisterThe start of something fresh usually makes us feel very excitedIn
the beginning, we come slowly, In
the silence of the night, Or
in the sparkling sunshine of day, We
come with cheeks soft and bright.
Looking
into strange eyes, As
sunlight in the sky, searches for the morning, And
the glow can sparkle in paradise, Beautiful
dreams waiting.
In
the beginning, we come slowly, We
come as a child, a servant of mankind, In
the service of love, hope and glory, In
the end, we will depart twice a child.
We
came with nothing, And
gathered a brimful of earthly treasure, And
still thirsty for everything, Watch
them pile high through the door.
Without
having room enough to store, We
may live and die, and come back again, To
the beginning, looking for more, Until
we find the reason for living.
