A voice in the Night

A voice in the Night

A Poem by Gerry Legister
"

sometimes we hear whispering voices in the night, and it is difficult to distinguish between the noise we hear and the voices that are unclear

"

I hear voices repeatedly in the night,
they come spellbound stronger than fear,
Reconciling the sacrifice to the hurt,
And join the pride in memories we share.

Thoughts about the people we once trust,
the hood became the instrument of hate,
We watch their opportunity crumble and lost,
Recovery for tarnish soul was already too late.

Heroes rose, the energy of youth tumble and fall,
Leaving disagreement in the neighborhood,
behind corners, gangs watch and wait for us all,
To rebuild with brave legacy found in the hood.

Missing places mark the loss of many lives,
The courage they pledge was a torch,
Shining a light in the darkened labyrinth of our lives,
Where heroes stood with voices are crush.

A voice in the night breaking the silence,
aggression passing through imagery of mind,
meet its doom, going further into the distance,
And disappearing into the memory of time.
