EnigmaA Poem by gmanDark & StrangeThe regular safety checks of,'How are you?' Were always completed, and met with a resounding. 'Fine, and you?' The deceptive smile should of been challenged. but time never permitted it. Besides, there would always be deniability. So what occupied the time of this enigma? What purpose did it serve? Dwelling too long to think was dangerous. No safety net hung in place to catch the fall. There was no guiding light. No purpose. No responsibility to continue the journey. Nothing left to prove. No passion to uncover. No fragrant smell of love. Sleep offered a warmth and the dreams within it, a comfort transcended the reality of life. Sleep was good. Sleep would come one day, and not leave. That day moved more quickly now. Could it be stopped? No. Could it be delayed. Yes with strength perhaps. But it could never be denied, and would arrive at it's own pace, unless hastened. The shadows gave way to light, there was still purpose in this enigma. But nothing had changed. © 2016 gman |
