Tsunami

Tsunami

A Poem by Gerica de la Cruz
"

A poem about the ocean and the shore.

"

I am the ocean
and you are the shore
I always reach for
when the cold wind roars.

But then one morrow
they planted stone walls
I could not break through,
how could I touch you?

My waves grew stronger,
“whish-whoosh,” they said louder.
They rose and they crashed,
into the barrier they splashed.

There will be no calm
‘til again we are one
and pray tell me, dear,
are you missing me there?
