The Truth that I Love You

The Truth that I Love You

A Poem by Geraldine Taylor

Verse 1
Standing in the middle, just unravelling the riddle
Won’t you stay with me a little, I’m lost in time
Resolution ever-ready, indecisions never steady
No I can’t be secondary, just want to make you mine

Chorus
The essence of courage, with leaves swept away
I’m journeying forward, don’t stand in my way
No greater price to pay, it’s not hard for me to say
The truth that I love you

Verse 2
Unfolding revelation, I’ll await anticipation
With a rising elevation, I’m drawn to you
The glowing of your favour and the moments I will savour
I’m not inclined to waver, I will see this through

Chorus

Bridge
Your undivided time is exactly what I’m searching for
With a love to find, of the moments that we met I’m sure
Be acquainted with, the unfading love I’m bringing forth
And I’m so into you

Chorus

The wording of the chorus seemed confusing to the intent within the stanzas - to me. Particularly "don't stand in my way". I tend to believe you're speaking toward more people than just the one you love - perhaps a parent, friend, ex... maybe that is my source of confusion?

Hi Chris, thanks for reading. The chorus in relation to the line 'don't stand in my way' could be interpreted differently in relation to the readers individual experience as well as perspective. At the specific time of writing the song concepts that came to mind was figuritivaly a representation of any obstacle that has stood in the way, whether a circumstance, limited mindset, person/group. To a deeper level a person can at times stand in their own way.
The song has currently been recorded by one artist, in which another artist is currently in the process of his recording of the song. However your review has been helpful and constructive and presents how the reader may interpret the lyrics. Thank you.
