Good Morning

Good Morning

A Poem by Georgia Stone

The sun between the blinds illuminates your face with gold,
Kiss your forehead,
See the sleepy corners of your mouth turn up in a smile
And hold you close once more
Before I put on the kettle and start the day.

I'm so fortunate to hold you, dear, I know --
You're so lovely --
And I want to pause life here:
Sunrise.
Warmth.
You.

But time moves on as it's apt to do,
And I must absorb this moment before it's gone
Because I promise, dear, I'm not the one you want.
