Up in flamesA Poem by Geoffrey SavageDrench me in gasoline, and set me aflame. Watch the flames devour my body. Overcome the heat, deny all shame. Screaming loudly; my skin becomes all shoddi. You think I'm dying, soon to become just a pile of ash; you see me stagger, you see me stand. Now hear me clash.
Puncture the fuel lines. Walking down main street; hear the villagers scream. As I walk forth, they all disperse. Gas fills the air; as I make my way- buildings start to ignite. Leaving only me in sight.
Burning bright, my pilot is my soul to lite. The mortal in me fades, the immortal takes hold. Strengthening me to a greater potential; I still stand as I am not a man on fire. Though now I am a man of fire. © 2012 Geoffrey SavageAuthor's Note
