Poker loveA Poem by Geoffrey SavageShe always knew how I had felt. Though I wasn't sure what would be dealt. I was a tell, my cards reflected in ones' own specs. But she couldn't bet, for she could only check.
Like the Queen of hearts, she showed no mercy. Her eyes sparkled like the diamonds in Jacks' pocket. Riding all in- the King held his spades too high. She folds; for the Hearts and Spades weren't meant to be made.
The King bled black, as I called his bluff and raised more than he. Making his spades soar no more, as he limped off I won the loot plus more.
Next hand has been given, now head to head. Deception has begun, this time no need for bloodshed. Throw away the Jokers since they're irrelevant anyway. There she goes again showing no mercy; high bet she had made. Only for me to be dismayed.
Hand after hand, it's just us now. Check, check; the flop. Smiling from afar, with nothing more than seductive stares. Bet, raise, call; the turn. I muffled hesitantly -- "I have something to say; I am in love with you." Check, bet, raise, re-raise, all in, call; the river.
In the end after the cards were layed, It didn't matter who lost or who won. Cause we both folded infinitely, Into each others' Hearts. The King and Queen.
