A Brave New LifeA Poem by Sean Clemonstoo far to reach? The moon shines sparsely upon the silent driveway this
night, luminous shadows hinting of shapes and objects not
quite seen as anger slowly settles hot and low into my still
churning chest and moonlight amplifies my frustrations over yet
another fight. Upon me through the haze of night, the man in the moon
gazes cratered for all time with all the hurt of fights long
past as the angry red planet peers over his shoulder full
of angst Mars glowing again in the distant blackened void of
caring. Keys rest in my hands this night, same as so many
nights before promise of change dangling from a trilogy of tired
silver plated shapes freedom to change my life flitting about between my
stiffened fingers escape a cool breeze blowing into my car and across my
face so inviting. I look up from my shaking hands to the void of calling
night skies to a creation hand-made, and having reinvention its
only constant me thinking that this feeling must exist elsewhere too carried by one who knows me in that place under the
heavens. I lift my hands then to those starry tears of night
sky allowing passion to flow from fingers of flesh to the
beacons of hope above and in return pulling passions back from the fireflies
of the abyss Gods balance between the heavens and the earth
mingling as one. My eyes shut, and lightly do my fingers brush her
imagined cheeks longingly reaching across the great expanses between
us and sharing before the maiden mists the embrace of two
in tune harmonic hearts unbreakable and together in the cycle
of feeling and desiring. The heavens speak to me now that hope does live yet a
little katedids chirp out to me in chorus that I need not
feel as I do and that a brave new existence is out there among the
stars requiring no less than the courage to follow my dreams. Down upon me the man of the moon still stares perhaps tilting his luminous head lost in distant
lunar thoughts or maybe seeking answers on my own face as I slowly
close my eyes and drift off to a reality I can only imagine, as I
fall slowly off to sleep. © 2018 Sean Clemons |
