Pavement DreamsA Poem by Genesis L.Inside the fingertips of dusk. The feeling of nostalgia in moments that felt like forever.
Tick tock on the clock,
We've run out of time. The sunset already stopped, nostalgia will arrive soon enough. The one-way road and a laugh, Ice scrambles and high school love will crumble in the alley dust. We're moving out of town. Moving on with our lives. No more orange skies and familiar street cable wires. Our curses floating through the air of teenage angst, Making their way through the cityscapes. Creating a melody out of the anxieties. Crossing fingers in heaven-high wishes that never came true. All was quickly forgiven. From empty pockets to swallowed promises. I'll always remember, How we walked beside each other, and the puzzle pieces came together. For a moment, I felt like I wouldn't be damned forever. The days will never carry us again this way. Singing the blues will never be the same as yesterday. Our 'pavement jabberwockies' will be immortal graffitis, only us can see. The pennies spent on pointless things will be the million-dollar reminisce. And our worlds would collide in memories. © 2024 Genesis L.Author's Note
