Dark is the soul

Silenced Pictures, Images and Photos
The lost dreams of youth haunt
promises became empty spent
Hurt became the normality
abandonment turned into rule
Golden years do not lay ahead
just weight of a lonely life
To age by the side of warm touch
opportunity never saw my face
To see warm smiles , hear soft whispers
happenstance in just my dreams
Years turned into decades
loneliness saturates a wanting life
What you do so love
you love alone nothing shared
Musical laughter is an envy
observation it is elsewhere
Passion wilts , spirit dies
reaching out becomes a fear
Waves of unworthiness
wash against the shore of self
Compatibility careens into the abyss
dark place that consumes the soul
Resignation acceptance of the way
insatiable folly of fate erodes the mind
The crys for change squelched long ago
voice softened to mere whispers
I can speak no more

Beauty and misery are sometimes inextricably linked.

Hmm,
I very honest piece of work.
I have to agree with Legion, this piece is very surreal,
which is a great ability to have, making your writing feel so live.
I like this,
a smooth flow of thoughts, with a great vocabulary.

My favourite line is:
''Hurt became the normality,
abandonment turned into rule"

I think that a lot of people could relate to this.

This piece reminds me of a man sitting upon a stage and pouring out his heart and soul with a monologue...
Pouring out his emotions until he is empty and cannot manage another word....and finally silenced..

Lovely piece.. going into my favorites.
Huggies.

Very haunting and surreal. A quality that beckons the loneliness of one's soul. One thing though, for more impact think about changing that last line to "I can speak no more." The double negative in your last line throws it off a bit at that point. Other than that, extremely well done. Brilliant.
