~Grow Up?~

~Grow Up?~

The loss of innocent imagination

Grow Up?

The mind has become cluttered
weighted down by sad circumstance
You can not cleanse the past
yet the sins of it always bleed
Life's lessons have clipped the wings
I can not soar to places once visited
Lands that held beauty for a child
became soiled by the sins of adulthood
The breathing beauty of life feeds young minds
and it taints as a grown world gives it's view
The spoken harsh realities seed doubt and fear
Grow up grow up grow up it stifles the soul
Dead minds of responsibilty need you more
Recess is over the playground is closed
swings sway lazily alone in the winds of our mind
slides become rusty in the rain of lost childhoods
The world imagined becomes stagnant and dies
gkl ..

how must we cross that dying, sinful bridge! if only we could reside in the magical ways of childhood forever....not wait until we die.

this is very well written, good job.
the point in the poem where you begin to talk about the playground was my favorite.
the imagery there was very strong, and helped bring the message across.

The disillusionment accompanied by aging is well portrayed here.
