Contest!

Contest to decide comment destination!

So as we have decided, we will do monthly contests to decide whose poem/story to review next! People who submit into the contest will also be voting so it is fair. ANYONE CAN SUBMIT AND VOTE FOR THE WINNER!!!

 The winner will be our next work to review! They also can post that work on our page to be featured! Any objections or thoughts? Heres the link to this month's contest!

Have a couple of questions.

1. Do we have to post our own stuff or can we nominate - by way of pasting the text or something - the work of someone else here on the Cafe?
2. How does the voting work? As I see it, you'd have to read the story/poem before deciding if others should read/review it as well. So doesn't that mean all entries are read and members might choose to comment anyway?

You can always comment and review whatever you would like! We just make the official Comment Destination based on who wins.

Unfortunately, there is no nominating. Pasting the text could very well be misconstrued as plagiarism. Maybe we can do a flash mob sort of thing every once in a while for writers who do not submit but deserve some love. That is a thing to consider. Any thoughts?

We are not sure exactly how voting works because this is the first contest we have done, but if someone wants to vote but not submit, they can make up a mock writing that just says "For Voting" and submit it so they too can vote on the winner. Any thoughts on that idea?

I think both ideas are pretty good!
Nominating others would help us all find works that might speak to and touch us, while also helping in spreading word about the group. It's a win-win if I ever saw one!

As for the mock writing, seems fine to me. Although I would always like to submit a piece of writing (helps deal with that nemesis called procrastination for me), I think it would help someone who doesn't have/want a piece put up here to still partake in the voting process and read others' works. :)

Of course! We are not quite sure how the voting works yet. You may need to submit a poem in order to vote, but we'll find out!

Yeah I won't be submitting anything I have this Silverbolt story on the go and it's taken on a life of its own, I am on part two of a three part story arc
