She is Fire

She is Fire

A Poem by Samantha Jo F.
"

This is a poem about loving someone who won't love you back, and you know it yet that doesn't stop you from pursuing them.

"

Fire.

When I think about her

I burn,

Flame-out, melt.

I am gone beyond the pages of

My little life.

She is raw and real.

But soft and kind.

With a heart of gold trapped in snow.

She dances, she sings, she lives;

And for it, my life has new meaning.

But she is fire.

Her movements too hot to hold,

Her words molten quick,

She is here and gone, only but a second in time.

Though, I’ll try all the same to keep her.

It’d be untrue to say I love her.

Love is worth very little.

People have cheapened it

In their overzealous underserved use.

But I love her all the same,

Even if it is not the right word.

She is my fire.

She is my everything,

And she burns me alive.

One day she’ll kill me,

And I’ll be nothing more than

Ashes smudged on her face.

And all is true because

She is fire

And I am nothing but

Fragile flesh waiting as I

Burn alive.

Does this make sense to people that aren't in this situation. It was about someone in particular I hope it wasn't too specific.

Hi I'm Sam, I love making art. If I could I would write and make visual art all day long. I'm 16 and I identify as a lesbian so a lot of my pieces either have the pronouns left out or have female pron.. more..
