This is what it means to me...

There's a lot of bad in the world

But I believe that's a part

Of the Meaning Of Christmas.

That Christ would allow himself

To be born into a world of hopelessness

Just so he would die to give hope to us.

Without believing in Christ is only Death

But to believe is Life for Eternity!

Give an unconditional gift, with expectations. The Jesus version of the sacrifice parable is a strange one. I prefer the versions with less physical torture and public humiliation. The Buddha is a more peaceful version o, it's really the same thing though. The Bible is like a snuff porn sometimes... it's a little excessive. That story, in my opinion, focuses too much on the pain of consequence instead of the reasons to avoid said consequence. Too much fear, not enough reason. The Buddha was a more emotionally mature teacher than Jesus.

The whole thing is we believe in Jesus' sacrifice to give us eternal life. If we don't believe, we don't get it. Merry whatever.

The problem with that interpretation is the lack of depth. Just believe and you get the keys to eternal life? That's nonsense. Understanding why you should believe in something is what brings you "eternal life"... not simply believing for the sake of belief. If you are only believing for the reward of eternal life... what do you really believe in? It sounds like you would believe in anything for the reward of eternal life - that is the antithesis of what religion in general is supposed to be about.

Dogma is not the way to go. You miss the point that way. Jesus would agree with me 100% (probably)
