Direct Experience

The lonesome loser from Little River
is not the island in the stream
but a piece of the fractal that
appears fractured on the surface,

but underneath there is a
complex web of interdependence
that the science of thermodynamics
calls an open system and the
transcendentalists call an
open revelation,

one that refuses to be sealed by
natural obstruction or
human approximation, but
is kept open by both the
sheer force of nature and the
power of direct experience,

it shows that humankind
is greater than the sum of its
natural parts defying explicit
terms like pi did prior to the
invention or discovery of
irrational numbers as a concept
as the decimal expansion does not
recur nor terminate thereby
necessitating the need for
a new definition,

a new concept,

and by the power of direct experience has
humankind created the new definition of itself,

one that cannot be defined in strictly spiritual
or material terms alone,

but ones that necessitate terms like metaphysical
and transcendental,

direct experience is for the living and not the bones
that had to be resurrected before the eyes of Elijah,

and the lonesome loser from Little River is alive and kicking,

striving and thriving within the complex web rightly and tightly,

his trying alone make the web flicker with positive energy and activity,

and that is the sermon for today!
