Cold Meltdown

Cold Meltdown

A Poem by Kenneth The Poet

the offspring of
the cold meltdown,

poets in their own right,

poets in their own time,

scrawling deep meaning
on the papyrus tablets
and the bathroom walls
of today, here and now,

hoping to light the way
all-chalice style
so the acolytes of
tomorrow can learn
from that wisdom brought
on by the experiences
and the blunders of the
cold meltdown offspring,

but the world is crashing
around everybody, at least
in the comfortable culture
that birthed the
cold meltdown generation,

no longer numero uno,

no longer the big dog running,

and maybe that's the lesson
that the offspring of the
cold meltdown offspring
will have to learn in ways
both hard and soft,

change is the
old constant,
after all.

We are what we weren't in the beginning, and can only change what we might be - if it's not too late. Throughout history examples have displayed and written but each period thinks it knows better, not so; consequently we're in permanent melt down .. one day, we'll probably all return to the oceans. ' .. the offspring of the ~ cold meltdown offspring ~ will have to learn in ways ~ both hard and soft, .. '

Your words set the mind racing full pelt ahead, thinking thoughts and more .. that's what writing should do .. thank you.

Kenny, this was like egyptians reborn in suburbia to me! Cool, different, intent.

Such an overwhelming sadness of a world melting down all around you... and trying to find a safe place to put your feet. Profoundly moving.

As we are into this world no longer numero uno, as you describe so well, the same time we get put into s****y little boxes of society. If you're ill, the doc thinks you're such a number, and not even spoke about politics... but history will repeat itself always, it never was diffrent till now, so all what lays behind is still there to be discovered again, (if people read, and are interessted for knowledge) such an insightful poem. It touched me.

excellent write. i can feel the way you are trying to reach out to change the lack of caring felt in the world around us today. but for them changing with the times, only deterioration will continue......makes one think it does.

I really enjoyed the pre-apocalypic tone you invoke here. Perhaps you reference only a metaphorical apocalypse, but I liked how you summon images of archaic ideals and apply them to a larger scale world.
