A Poem by Kenneth The Poet

canceling the terms,

cutting out the dross,

looking for patterns

in finding the identities,

the equitable forms beneath,

the cubes disconnected

from their linear parents

a couple of powers below,

a couple of layers hidden,

but the connection remains

since linear sequences in

bases raised to cubes

divided by pure linear

sequences creates a

whole every time,

all the time

and cubes are made

out of squares, when

added together when

the natural sequence

is cubed, squares and

certain rhombuses

chopped in half honestly

become connected reality

read between the

numbers like the

writers read between

the lines and write

into the lines between

Author's Note

Kenneth The Poet
My first love is mathematics, but poetry is the closest, complimentary second. My bread and butter is number sequences and the algebra that connects it all together. This poem is inspired by the truths expressed within.

If that explanation is confusing, check these truths out...

1^3 + 2^3 = (1 + 2)^2
1^3 + 2^3 + 3^3 = (1 + 2 + 3)^2
1^3 + 2^3 + 3^3 + 4^3 = (1 + 2 + 3 + 4)^2

(1^3 + 3^3 + 5^3) / (1 + 3 + 5) = 17
(2^3 + 3^3 + 4^3) / (2 + 3 + 4) = 11
(5^3 + 8^3 + 11^3 + 14^3) / (5 + 8 + 11 + 14) = 124

(2^3 + 5^3 + 10^3 - 3 * 2 * 5 * 10) / (2 + 5 + 10) = 49

I was a fan of math till the trickery took over. The poem was interesting. Poor daughter come to me for help in her math. I know little of the new math. You did well with this poem. I use no rules and struggle to make a proper poem. Thank you for the excellent poem.

You expect me to understand the "Greek" you posted in your author's note, Ken? And to be able to use it to elucidate your poem? You grossly overestimate my abilities, my friend! *chuckles*

Trying to read between the lines, without the aid of the "cheat sheet" above (*grins*), I'd say that this poem might be about the ways in which oppositions connect, and paradoxes are the most possible and clear, and where to be whole requires us to be broken. Another one of your poem about life, as mediated through the lens of mathematical proofs, or something!

Shutting up now... :)

not my strongest subject ..but I do love that fact that every seems to have a mathimatical formula..I don't fully understand your poem..but understand the concept..is that enough for a B+?

I suck at math Ken, that is my disability, but the poem reads with interest and insight, nice work..

I am a whiz at general math but if it gets complicated I freeze. I will be looking for you to help me read between the numbers. Excellent Ken.
