Small Vices

Small Vices

A Chapter by Kenneth The Poet

The hippie bothers
nobody by striking a
match and relaxing.

What crime is he or
she committing by smoking
a plant from the Earth?

Why can't a holy
man use a fungus to pray
to his deity?

Why can't humans be
allow'd to adapt to the
accidents they find?

Because all people
have a right to live safely,
says the bureaucrat.

Because I need to
keep my posh job and paycheck,
means the bureaucrat.

This is why they hide
the truth, stifle the message,
keep smart minds off track.

And parties outside
the party are vested
in its destruction.

Because the pious have
little fun, they must kill the
buzz at any cost.

And they take control
of power's helm and use it
to their advantage.

Ripping liberty
away from people who are
careful, rational.

They have ethics and
they have scruples, they found the
rules for that success.

The buddy system,
the simple ethic causes
fewer downfalls, deaths.

And they don't let them
drive, don't let them operate
heavy equipment.

People should make their
mistakes, and make corrections
so there is less harm.

The medicine men
and the hippies are the few
and the far between.

Small vices are good
because nature can be a
malevolent b***h.
