Lead Weight

Lead Weight

A Chapter by Kenneth The Poet

Incompetence breeds
bureaucracy, which breeds a
s**t ton of paper.

Reports so long and
verbose that even the smart
ones are just puzzl'd.

Just like currency,
it's all worthless until faith
and credit are full.

Fully given that
is, given to a notion
with a weight of lead.

As heavy as lead
but cannot become gold since
magic is bullshit.

Simplicity is
bullshit to the bureaucrat,
a strange vice versa.

The smart ones abhor
bureaucratic bedlam, at
least the constant flux.

A knife's edge is the
perpetual state of life,
just subject to change.

Lead bureaucracy,
a head of lead and a tail
with a swing to match.

Failure to comply
leads to career suicide,
or a regime change.

No child left behind,
really means leave your mind and
your soul all behind.

Just follow the next
lead fad and lead leader since
bullets are lead-made.

Silver bullets are
fiction like blood atonement,
salvation by grace.

The complex werewolves
invented by bureaucrats
can be slain simply.

Common sense can lead
the way away from stupid
ideas of lead.

No need to waste more
paper on this totally
depressing topic.

Simple solutions
and consistency are worth
their weight in pure gold.

Lead is used in so many ways here. As a foil for the concept of a bad leader, as the opposite of gold, and more... and all in between the folly of trusting any structure of magic when we should just apply consistency instead.

Simplicity is
bullshit to the bureaucrat,
a strange vice versa.

--- could be a poem on its own.
