Blasphemy

Blasphemy

A Poem by Kenneth The Poet
"

Exactly what is says is exactly what it means.

"
Blasphemy
is a
victimless
crime
because
the true
believer
is not
fazed
by the
ravings
of the
village
atheist
but I’m
the
hypocrite
here
because
in the
anonymity
of the
vast
interconnectedness
we are slaves to
we are free to
shout off
without
offending
our peers
in the
facial
context
but nothing
is ever
so simple
because
words
are still
the sticks
and
the stones
breaking
emotional
bones,
emotional
bonds
between
the bipedal
peers
called the
citizens
of this
Earth,
but
many
times
I say
f**k
it all
and the
storm
weathers
me and
the others
around me,
so much
for observing
the golden
rule of faith,
thou that
speakest
ill of it
shall
perish
in the
pit of
fire and
brimstone

I like the way you opened this--it's an interesting thought, that blasphemy is a victim-less crime. Your poems are almost always very thought-provoking, and this one is no different. There was one part in the middle that didn't make sense to me:

we are slaves to
we are free to
shout off

Other than that, I liked it. A bit long and rant-ish, but good ideas.

I try to keep a even tone with the discussion of religion. Here in Detroit. The churches are the last hope for food and shelter for too many homeless and desperate people. These people I respect. My company donate food to them. There are times to save souls and sometime a time to be the hand to help the poor and the homeless. I like the purpose of the poem. I don't know what God would think if he looked down at this earth? I'm Ojibwa and believe we need balance. Spending 1.2 trillion on war isn't balance. Balance is living in peace with nature. Insuring all people have shelter and food. Thank you for the outstanding poem. You always make me think.
