The covenant of
matrimony, a sacred bond forged in the divine Fires, is both a blessing and a curse. A golden mean of contractual vice and virtue. A sublime mix of double X and single X and Y and the Architect of the Universe. One cord weaved together with three strands as promised by Ecclesiastes chapter Four and verse Twelve. It is not easily shattered apart. And yet, why are men and women breaking their vows? Jeopardy is a game show, not a state of nature that the marriage should be in at all. Adultery and addiction and abuse and differences seen as unable to be reconciled. Humans are unclean, broken creations, sinful, full of vinegar, lye and spite. Emotions are the kerosene that powers human events and undertakings. If we followed the edicts of God close to the letter, the married life is always worth living, no matter the storm, no matter the trial. Man and woman are in covenant when they take their vows before the Altar of the Most High Jesus Christ. The fleshly unity is the proper way for the genders to live.
