The Conestoga wagon on the digital frontier
And yet the matter of you is standing here Churning out applications at lightning speed Finding the silver bullet, just what you need But this is the edge that cuts so fine and hard You become the expert, you now carry the card Detailing themes and lessons out on the blog Recording videos of math lessons set to song Proficient with the old and the new is so raw And everything just changes, so goes the saw Clouds, tags and feeds, new information forms Standards become distorted, this is the new norm Interactive television, the disconnect of distance It can't compete with combustion, gas and pistons Traversing the technological divide to be normal The rules of plagiarism used to be simple and formal Condensation evaporating, the emergence of design The illusion of stability is now wholly undermined But in the realm of education, trends come and go And the bells and whistles continue to put on the show Welcome to the blogosphere, you neophytes of today The younger beings instruct on the rules of how to play Or maybe age doesn't matter, enthusiasm really does Continue the education, updates matter just because To abuse the cliche, this is now the new world order The progress of this age has pushed us over the border And the boulders keep being pushed back up the hill Maybe it is the curse of being human, our tenacious will The creation of complexity exposes the invisible worth Cut off the power supply and the monster lacks girth And the wagon reaches the Willamette, thirst is not sated And the devaluing of language continues on unabated © 2011 Kenneth The Poet |
