It was a Monday morning like none other
They are reenacting the fifties' duck and cover Not because anybody saw the mad flash But they had to make the maddest dash Under the desks because of projectiles flying And the outcomes, innocent students are dying For no reason, what did they do wrong? Now, we have to write a not needed swan song As senseless as other times that have gone by Still there is absolutely no reason they had to die Just because one man had some really bad luck Doesn't mean the lives of others had to suck From my point of view to points everywhere else Let's put that false sense of security back on the shelf And take down the ribbons, candles and tissues And be with the folks who are rightly working through the issues The fourth estate informs you but blows it out of whack The ultimate point: thirty-two souls won't be coming back All these innocent people, unfairly shot and unjustly died Even though the psychologists and professors tried Just because of unhinged, rotten motives Now to be written are thirty-two votives © 2011 Kenneth The Poet |
