The Choice Eternal

The Choice Eternal

A Poem by Kenneth The Poet
"

A person is judged by their choices, no matter the level of existence.

"

Burning eternal for a choice external

Refusing to bow before a God infernal

The man rejects and God expects

No wonder the being only selects

People he knows from the very start

Who are willing to be the human apart

Apart from the world that is rife with strife

Apart from the men who alienate the wife

God, the benevolent king who loves us so

More than anything, I guess we know

Know this more than knot theory

Despite the theology being so dreary

Well this is my choice and I don't care

And all these fundies might get scared

I'll be the fuel for the eternal pyre

I'm the beverage for the unquenched fire

But this my choice and my life

And I care not about how much strife

I cause my family and my wife

Since my life has been truly rife

With so much emotional s**t

I want it to end, every single bit

And if it means a forever conflagration

Because I'm guilty of insubordination

This life is over and that is all that matters

Since Dexter Morgan will study the splatters

And conclude that they are self-inflicted

This is  man who is emotionally unrestricted

And he chose the path of least resistance

Because it required so little persistence

And now he burns, and nothing's gained

A slave to sin that has circled the drain

And the mourners cry wanting a reason

Oblivious to the truth of his dying season

But who gives a s**t, he had written

With the idea of death, he was smitten

And his eulogy was hopefully full of spite

Since he knew it was best, totally right

That's what happens when you chase that voice

Logic leaves you in the form of a choice

I've made my choice, the choice eternal

I refuse to bow before the God infernal

ahh great rhyme scheme here - it's so very melodic - the internal rhymes - and I like how you go back to the first lines at the end - like a rhyming circle of sorts!! nice!
