Human Traffic

Human Traffic

A Poem by Kenneth The Poet

the human traffic passes on Colfax
vibrant, colorful, a scene quite relaxed

freaks and geeks combine with uniques and sheikhs
all the evangelical nutjobs would get the creeps

accosted by a drunk looking for change
they could have had our lives rearranged

but still he feels safe in such a new place
must be a fatal flaw or a saving grace

still, the avenue is written on tourist shirts
it's evocative and memorable, whatever works

the tourists and outsiders see a daily slice
the regular denizens acting all strangely

the natives warn the tourists all the time
stay away from there due to the crime

yet, it's a change from the daily grind
something required from time to time

Boz told about walking on the wild side
it's where all the human traffic collides

a slice of tapestry on the airport wall
giving life and story to one and all

you may see it only once in your life
be it tales of love, laughter or strife

enjoy the moments, however cool or weird
because the tale's ending is always unclear
