Flushed Away

Flushed Away

A Poem by Kenneth The Poet

to the end of the page
a short burst of nitrogen expansion
in literary form yet the value of it all
is meaningless

devoid of deeper philosophy
because some exercises are just
practice for the main event

but is there ever a poetic event?

the kind that will elevate a piece to the level of
a Poe, a Pound, a Plath or a Whitman?

not likely because many good pieces are lost
to the passage of time like atheists in the
annals of Church history

and that very well may be the fate of this piece

good s**t is still s**t that winds up flushed away

Your word choices are brilliant. This flows together nicely. And you have a good point.

Thank you.
History and its later availability is defined and written and thereafter rewritten and redefined and left accessible by the winners of all socioeconomic societal challengers - force matters after all and violence does resolve issues. You spoke clearly and with reason... and I can only agree.

I like the thought process here, especially the bit about atheists being forgotten. Since most historical records were maintained by the Church, atheists and heathens have mostly been lost in the annals, birth and death never recorded in written form. I often wonder what great writers were never recognized, as if my favorite piece possible has already been lost; a bit depressing really. I am very grateful that Franz Kafka (my favorite author) became more well known after his death, instead of fading into obscurity... if not I would have never enjoyed his czech/german works.

~ Ha! I am always a hopeful fella, even though at times I could be pessimistic. The thing is, s**t happens, more often we can't avoid it. Poetry has grown too much that more often its hard to find which is the best among the best. I always believe in waiting - the patience to wait for the right one...and in the ruins, there will be who shall rise and stood up to be great! There are still more great writers now a days, its just that the taste on what people like changes depends on the current era...

a very expressive piece my friend...
