Two Weeks Gone

Two Weeks Gone

A Poem by Kenneth The Poet

two weeks gone
and still no end in sight

the light is seen in the
infinite tunnel but it's
just a phantom train
passing right through you

the federal outfit might as
well be outfitted for a coffin
made from their empty promises
and their claims of full faith and credit

am I the only one who notices the
irony of the phrase "debt ceiling"?

this is what happens when stupid fuckers
tap dance around the Senate floor and quote
Dr. Seuss for twenty-one hours straight

pachy-asses need to be stabbed in the asses
with hedgehog quills, but just like the hopes and
dreams of cynically sane ones, they've been s**t
on by the ones who are truly in charge

the lovers of political theater, for this is just
simple theater after all

the countdown is almost over,
the seventeenth day is almost here
