Undefined Terms

Undefined Terms

A Poem by Kenneth The Poet
"

Ed Hart, thank you for the inspiration!

"

the high school students know

them as points, lines and planes

the axiomatic contradictions

codified by Euclid called

undefined terms

Cantor exposed them

for what they are, abstract

frauds that somehow

describe and define

physical realities

and that’s probably why

Epicurus came along

he brought atomic theory

and democracy to the forefront

of Western thought

humans are atoms when

compared to the size of

the Universe itself

and the other funny thing,

he was the philosopher

curious about stuff that

went below the surface

but his name doesn't seem

to say so

all kidding aside,

the non-philosopher of now

could easily meld the views

of Euclid and Epicurus to

create something that seems

totally profound

points are atoms,

lines are chains of atoms

and planes are atomic chains

taken together in all directions

Cantor is probably face-palming

himself right now

or not

he’s dead

he’s not here anymore

Zeno might agree though,

he was the first to confirm

that infinity is an abstract

and not an attribute

Cantor would agree too,

he was the first to confirm

that continuums came in

different sizes because they

were just segments

and segments come in

different sizes

abstract are illusory,

which is just an analogue

of the word illusion

points have attributive properties

but they can barely be perceived

point should be a synonym for quark

both words have five letters after all

and everything connects back to five

if you worship at the altar of Eris

and gods have characteristics, attributes,

properties that are considered infinite

gods may be segments after all,

abstract ones at most

who knows though?

the abstract connective tissue

called human understanding

is one that can create both

logical fallacies and

logical breakthroughs

halfway right or

halfway wrong

everything is up for grabs

no matter what

A very academic and philosophical piece...I confess I don't know all the figures you've referenced but I know the main ones...your style is still quite prominent here...well done K.
