Green-Eyed Monster

Green-Eyed Monster

A Poem by Kenneth The Poet

we look at the trapezoid
or the parallelogram or
the rectangle or
the saucepan or
the skin blister
we call home
and we confirm
our own biases
about how its
the best place
to be

some probably
call it a minor
form of patriotism
or what have you

some simply call it
homegrown pride

the insiders make
the grass sound
greener than
it really is

green is just a
mixture of blues
and yellows

depression added to cowardice
to create a green-eyed monster

are the insiders
portraying truth
or just a really
well-disguised
jealousy that
festers beneath?

who really knows?

grass is the shade
of babyshit brown
in the deep winter
after all

and sometimes even
in the summers

location is moot
and only the
metaphor takes
precedent

"grass is the shade of babyshit brown in winter"

such truth...

i like the cynicism here...we sometimes think our own grass is greener because maybe our eyesight and our insight is lacking...

we are patriots with poor metaphorical bias...

nice write...on to more.
