but Big Brother may

symbolism changes

meaning as time goes on

yet the human instinct to

prefer uniformity has

remained largely unchanged

over the last several millenia

 

a physical two and

a physical two makes

a physical four but

the number sentence

that represents the

physical four could be

a symbolic five

 

the statement is an

accepted convention

just like the order

of operations

 

just like the idea of

subject-verb agreement

 

just like exiting out

of one setting is

equal to entering

into another setting

 

just human inventions

 

approximations of

nature as observed

 

could the universe

or human instinct change?

 

of course, but for now,

two and two make four

physically and symbolically
