Petrarch

Petrarch

A Poem by Kenneth The Poet

he set himself up to write the sonnet

one hell of a difficult exercise

to write something of the Petrarchan size

but to win the day is to get on it

yet his head is wrapped up in the bonnet

tied up within the free-verse enterprise

Petrarch left minor room for compromise

but the hungry one, the one that wants it

so he writes hard, writes long until it falls

something bad, something wrong, maybe profound

something that swells up from deep underground

no longer contained with in the four walls

the mental confines have become rubble

what is left is not just burned-up stubble

Author's Note

Kenneth The Poet
Ugh. My first attempt at writing a sonnet. This is far from my best effort. It may even be my worst.

I get slightly turned on when you mention philosohpers and poets in your lines and titles, definately keep that up!

All philosophers should write poetry to organize their intuition, that way, they can be literary role-models for their kids :P

I take this as a poem about writing, and meta-analysis on the condition of writing is the brain's final frontier, for language is the inbetween realm we mostly hangout in all the time.

'A' for effort, what font is this in by the way and italized I imagine?

Thank you very much.
Ha, you're most brilliant, what a metaphor my friend, I do adore your brain.
For a sonnet as it was born in Italy it need a few more rules, also in the alinea's but this was such a splendid intelligent wording. I am going to save it. Thanks
