Second Helpings

A Chapter by Kenneth The Poet

the children may go home
on Friday night and be hungry
until Monday morning,

starving silently since
Uncle Sam got stingy
with the second helpings

That's very true. I see it in different ways also.
It could be all better, if we calculated more.
This is awesome.

Won't be long. Rules of WW2 could reappear again. Bad thoughts create by this poem. Poor children pay for our sins. A excellent poem.

Agreed!
Why is it when they need to make cuts it is too the working class trying to survive instead of the rich who have plenty to spare? It never makes sense.

Yes. Yes they do go hungry. And the reason for this is a host of related failings that, when they are old enough, they will be blamed for themselves.
Because poverty is your fault. It is your fault you are undereducated. It is your fault you were cultured to be hated and, as such, hate in turn. It is your fault that you are poisoned against the world, just because its possibilities were almost entirely denied to you.

Look! One in a million of your kind has succeeded. This shows that it is Down To The Individual. Take Responsibility For Yourself In The System That Governs You. You Have A Voice.

When people hold me up as an example of success, I can happily say that I had no part in it. I came out of my childhood and it was just that I was happy to learn to forget everything else. I struggled and stopped caring for long stretches but I came out with something. And you can always turn something into something else.

So, yeah, this poem made me think.
