The Actor

The Actor

A Poem by Gene Denham

He's kept the secret for so long
The dirty prison hidden away
Horrendous beasts within must stay
For to unleash them would be wrong

Alone at night, when on bended knee
He argues that is for the human race
That he must lie and don a foreign face
His soul is prisoner and his sanity the key

In others, he witnesses the spark
A flame that burns warm and bright
But, they do not look in the mirror and fight
For the actor's true role is evil and dark
